Meet Emily Gold

Emily is the founder of Emily Gold Yoga. She’s a mom of two, certified yoga therapist, doula, and coach. She’s passionate about supporting women through every stage of motherhood.

At Wish for a Baby Brussels, you’ll have the opportunity to meet Emily and hear about the incredible work she does. Emily will also be speaking on Day 1 (Saturday 21 June) about how to understand and balance your nervous system to support fertility and overall well-being.

Can you tell us about Emily Gold Yoga?

I started Emily Gold Yoga to support people with motherhood, from the journey towards motherhood all the way through the early parenting years. We live in a time where there is so much information but that can lead to stress, loneliness, and confusion. I want to help support people in a way that lets them tune in to their "crunchy" side while still receiving care that is evidence based and supportive of medicine and science.

Can you tell us about your personal health journey?

EmilyGoldYoga

I've been doing yoga since my late teens. It was the first physical exercise I began after my eating disorder recovery. When I was 24, I started having seizures (the first one was actually in a yoga studio), and I was later diagnosed with a benign brain tumor. During months of appointments and procedures – that culminated in having brain surgery to remove the tumor – yoga and meditation were a huge solace and a major part of my recovery after my surgery. I began exploring the healing side of yoga; I started yoga therapy training in 2015. A few months later, I became pregnant but sadly I had a miscarriage. I was once again drawn to my yoga practice, but I was saddened to see how little yoga was available around pregnancy loss and fertility support. I began learning what I could, taking knowledge from my own education to support my own unsuccessful attempts to get pregnant again as well as support others going through their own fertility journeys.

At Wish for a Baby, you're speaking about the nervous system...Can you give us an insight into your presentation?

One thing that people who are TTC almost always hear is some version of “you just need to relax" or "have you tried yoga?” It drives me crazy. No one has ever been "reminded" to relax. Trying to get pregnant can be extremely stressful and now we are adding one more thing to our ‘to do’ list. Also, stressed people get pregnant all the time. We know people are living with unimaginable stress and still get pregnant. But the nervous system does influence all of our other systems, including our reproductive systems, and for some people that impact can be greater. And no one has ever not benefitted from relaxing. My talk is about how the nervous system does effect fertility – and how it doesn't – and how we can use this knowledge to enhance one's ability to become and stay pregnant. It isn't about "just relaxing” but about feeling safe and secure in our minds and bodies during stressful times.

What are you looking forward to the most at Wish for a Baby Brussels?

I am excited to present! We are so blessed to have access to medical magic when it comes to fertility, but I love helping people find the magic their own mind and body can have. Especially if they've lost trust in that magic. I’m also excited to connect with others in the field of fertility support and meet all the amazing people attending the conference.

How can people get in touch with you?
